The car was produced by General Motors from 1967 to 2002. Firebird was introduced to the market the same year with Chevrolet Camaro, a similar model. 3.8 liters 175 horsepower (130 kW) engines with a single-chamber carburettor were suceeded by more powerful 4.1 liters engines, developing 215 horsepower (160 kW) with a four-barrel carburetor. Also, for the 1968 model, 5.3 liter engine was replaced by a 5.7-liter, «HO» version of which had modified combustion chamber and 320 horsepowers.
